SKAO GHANA mission is to combat the endemic problem of child labour and trafficking in the fishing communities  within the ten regions in Ghana and Africa through education, rehabilitation, and community empowerment.

Human trafficking is the illegal trade in human beings for the purposes of commercial sexual exploitation or forced labor, a modern-day form of slavery.

Human Trafficking in the first ten years of the 21st Century, including reports of human trafficking for forced labor, forced prostitution, debt bondage, slavery and forced marriage, as well as the transfer of a child for purposes of exploitation.
Close to 21 million people globally are estimated to be victims of bonded labour, slavery, forced prostitution and other forms of involuntarily work, according to the 2013 World Development report.

Why children are trafficking in Ghana?

You have to look at the reasons why a person gets involved in a trafficking situation (usually not knowing what they're getting into) rather than choosing a different route. It varies, of course, but many young women are enticed with promises of education and jobs in another country. Mothers may "sell" their children because they can't afford to keep them and because the traffickers promise a good education. Address those problems, as difficult as they are, and you may make some headway non-legally.

A 8-year-old boy toils under the hot sun, making fishing from morning to night, seven days a week. He was trafficked with her entire family from Moree, one of the poorest and most underdeveloped towns in Ghana, and sold to the owner of a fisher man.  With no means of escape, and unable to speak the local language, the family is isolated and lives in terrible conditions.  Street kids, runaways, or children living in poverty can fall under the control of traffickers who force them into begging rings. Children are sometimes intentionally disfigured to attract more money from passersby. Victims of organized begging rings are often beaten or injured if they don't bring in enough money. They are also vulnerable to sexual abuse.

SKAO GHANA, together with volunteers and interns demonstrated renewed efforts to prevent trafficking over the last couple of months . It conducted anti-trafficking education campaigns and workshops to prevent trafficking during the reporting period. Skao Ghana officials spoke regularly with anti-trafficking messages on radio talk shows and on television and made anti-trafficking messages on posters in various communities as well . SKAO GHANA maintained a group in responsible for being on the watch in the nearby communities to expose crimes related to human trafficking. SKAO GHANA together with volunteers and interns have been very helpful and working hard to STOP CHILD TRAFFICKING AND CHILD LABOUR in the Awutu Senya East Municipal District of Ghana and Africa as a whole.
